How the Random Number Generator works

Set a minimum and maximum (both included), how many numbers you need and how many decimal places, then select Generate. Turn off Allow repeats to draw each number at most once — like pulling tickets from a hat.

Numbers come from your browser's cryptographically secure generator (crypto.getRandomValues), not the predictable Math.random(), and every number in the range is exactly equally likely.

Formula

P = 1 ÷ (max − min + 1)

For whole numbers from 1 to 6 each result has a 1 in 6 chance. Values that would favour some numbers (“modulo bias”) are discarded and redrawn.

Frequently asked questions

Are the numbers truly random?

They come from your operating system's secure random source via the browser — the same kind used for encryption keys. They can't be predicted from earlier results.

Can I use this for official lotteries or legal draws?

The numbers are fair, but official draws usually need an audited process and a witness. Use this for everyday picks, games, classrooms and informal giveaways.

Why can't I get 10 unique numbers between 1 and 5?

Only 5 different whole numbers exist in that range. Allow repeats, widen the range or ask for fewer.
