How the Rotate and Flip Image works
Choose an image, then a rotation — 90° clockwise, 180° or 90° counter-clockwise — and, if you like, a horizontal or vertical flip. Select Rotate image to see the result and download it.
A quarter turn swaps the width and height; every pixel is moved, none are changed or blurred. When you combine them, the flip is applied first and the rotation second. Photos from phones are read with their stored orientation, so what you see is what you rotate.

Front cameras often save selfies mirrored, so text reads backwards. Flip horizontally with no rotation puts it right.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between flipping and rotating?
Rotating turns the picture around its centre. Flipping mirrors it: left and right (horizontal) or top and bottom (vertical) change places, so text becomes unreadable. Rotating 180° is the same as flipping both ways.
Why does my photo look upright on my phone but sideways elsewhere?
Cameras store the pixels one way and add an EXIF note saying how to turn them. Some apps ignore the note. Saving the photo here turns the pixels themselves, so it looks the same everywhere.
Does rotating lose quality?
The pixels are only moved. PNG stays lossless; JPG and WebP are saved again at high quality (92%).
