How the EXIF Viewer and Remover works
Photos carry hidden data called EXIF: the camera and lens, the exposure settings, the date and time — and often the GPS coordinates of where the photo was taken. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP file to see what it contains. A warning appears when the file holds a location.
Remove metadata and download deletes the EXIF, XMP, IPTC and comment blocks from the file and leaves the picture data untouched, so there is no quality loss and the file gets slightly smaller. The color profile is kept so colors don't shift. If a JPG was rotated by its EXIF orientation, only that one setting is kept (36 bytes), so the photo doesn't turn sideways.

A photo taken at home and posted on a marketplace can carry your home's coordinates. Remove the metadata first, then check the cleaned file here: it should show no tags.
Frequently asked questions
Don't social networks remove EXIF already?
Most large networks strip it from public posts, but email, cloud links, file transfers, many forums and messaging apps that send "original" files keep it. Removing it yourself is the safe option.
Does removing metadata change the picture?
No. The picture data is copied byte for byte; only the metadata blocks are left out. Tools that re-save the image remove metadata too, but re-compress it.
Which formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP. For HEIC, GIF and other formats, convert the image with the Image Converter — re-saving drops the metadata.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. The file is read and cleaned in your browser, which matters for a tool that handles location data.
