How the Image Format Converter works
Choose an image and the format you want, then select Convert. The image is decoded and re-encoded in your browser. For JPG and WebP you can set the quality; for JPG, choose the color that fills transparent areas, since JPG can't store transparency.
PNG is lossless and keeps sharp edges and transparency — best for screenshots, logos and graphics. JPG is best for photos. WebP handles both, usually at a smaller size, and works in all current browsers.

Frequently asked questions
Does converting reduce quality?
Converting to PNG doesn't. Converting to JPG or WebP is lossy — use high quality (90%) to keep it close to the original.
Can I convert HEIC photos from an iPhone?
Only in browsers that can open HEIC (such as Safari). Elsewhere, set your iPhone camera to “Most Compatible” to save JPGs.
What happens to animated GIFs?
Only the first frame is converted; the result is a still image.
