How the Text to Speech works
Paste text and select Read aloud. The tool uses the speech voices built into your browser and operating system (the Web Speech API), so which voices and languages you get depends on your device. Choose a voice, then adjust the speed and pitch.
Long text is split into sentence-sized pieces and read one after another, which avoids the cut-offs some browsers have with long passages. You can pause, resume and stop at any time.

minutes = words ÷ (150 × speed)
150 words per minute is a typical speaking pace at speed 1. Real voices vary a little.

Frequently asked questions
Why are there no voices, or only a few?
Voices come from your device. Desktop Chrome and Edge include online voices; Safari and Firefox use the system voices. On Windows, add voices in Settings → Time & language → Speech; on macOS, in System Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content.
Is my text sent anywhere?
ToolsServer doesn't upload it. But voices marked "online" in the list (such as Google voices in Chrome and Microsoft voices in Edge) are generated by that browser vendor's service, so choose a local voice for private text.
Can I download the audio as an MP3?
No. Browsers play speech directly and don't give pages access to the audio, so it can't be saved without uploading your text to a server — which this tool avoids.
