From rest with a = 9.8 m/s² for 2 s: v = 19.6 m/s and s = 19.6 m.
Solve constant-acceleration motion from any three of displacement, velocities, acceleration and time.

For motion with constant acceleration, five quantities are linked: displacement s, initial velocity u, final velocity v, acceleration a and time t. Enter any three and leave the other two empty; the calculator picks the right equations. Use signs for direction — for example, take up as positive and use a = −9.81 m/s² for gravity.
v = u + at
s = ut + ½at² · s = ½(u + v)t
v² = u² + 2as
From rest with a = 9.8 m/s² for 2 s: v = 19.6 m/s and s = 19.6 m.
From 20 m/s with a = −5 m/s² to a stop (v = 0): it takes 4 s and 40 m.
These equations only hold for constant acceleration; split the motion into stages.
A thrown object passes the same height twice. The calculator gives the first time and says so.
